This 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 2 Door hardtop is going to be hard to beat. It has only 18,783 actual miles and might be the most original of the 117 428 CJ XR7 cars made!

That's right! Only 117 428CJ XR7 Cougars were EVER made! This is the ONLY ONE MADE in Grecian Gold with a Parchment Vinyl Roof.

This Cougar was featured in the June 2000 edition of "Mustang and Ford" magazine.

If you looked at our other auctions you may have noticed the black 1968 Cougar GT 428, I bought it from the same family. The son used this car to help restore the GT to an exacting standard, all of the original markings are still there! Remember, it's a lot more difficult to find a car they made 117 of than most all of the Shelby Mustangs built. It's also VERY tough to find parts to make one look like these two cars look!

In the collector world it's all about Big Block engines, Originality, Documentation, and of course, LIMITED PRODUCTION!

This car has it all!

Study the pictures carefully, at 40 years old it does have a few minor flaws.

This may be the only original Cobra Jet XR7 with miles this low!

New retail cost in 1968 was $4519.41. Wow and look at all of the options that came with the car when purchased:
